Intergenerational Fellowship

Board-Um Busters and Stone Soup! Have you ever read the book Stone Soup? It’s a children’s tale, reportedly from the brothers Grimm. According to wikipedia: “... some travelers come to a village, carrying nothing more than an empty pot. Upon their arrival, the villagers are unwilling to share any of their food stores with the hungry travelers. The travelers fill the pot with water, drop a large stone in it, and place it over a fire in the village square. One of the villagers becomes curious and asks what they are doing. The travelers answer that they are making "stone soup", which tastes wonderful, although it still needs a little bit of garnish to improve the flavor, which they are missing. The villager doesn't mind parting with just a little bit to help them out, so it gets added to the soup. Another villager walks by, inquiring about the pot, and the travelers again mention their stone soup which hasn't reached its full potential yet. The villager hands them a little bit of seasoning to help them out. More and more villagers walk by, each adding another ingredient. Finally, a delicious and nourishing pot of soup is enjoyed by all.” We are going to make our own stone soup, where everybody brings something to contribute. While the soup is becoming soup, we will play some intergenerational board games. The children are invited to bring their favorite new Christmas gift to share. The grown ups can bring their favorite gift too! Come join us! It’s a fabulous fellowship opportunity and a chance to enjoy the warmth of good food, good friends, and good times!
What a wonderful time!!! Our Second annual ACC family picnic was Sunday, August 3rd 2008 from noon-7pm. Food was served at 3pm. This year it was at Woodlawn Beach in Hamburg. There were several families in attendance, and great food was shared by all. We had games and fun activities for kids and adults of all ages!
Take a look as some pictures...
Thanks to all who attended. We look forward to a bigger & better picinic next year. Ideas and volunteers are always welcome.
