Both events were wonderfully supported by ACC members and friends, first in the cooking and singing part, and later by the congregation buying tickets for pies, dinner and the concert. In doing so, we have contributed a total of $2,306 for church financial needs, $441 from the pie sale and $1,865 from Comfort and Joy.

Here are a few more details showing how all this gets put together. For our second annual pie sale, Chef Gwen and 8 pie persons assembled 49 pies, of which the apple crumble was clearly the crowd favorite. We made them to order, sold tickets at $12 apiece and handed them out on the Sunday before Thanksgiving. Last year we sold 30 pies, so this is an event we are likely to try again next year.

Comfort and Joy is a much bigger event. This year was our fifth dinner/concert, and we held our prices at last year's pre-sale level of $15 for the dinner and $10 for the concert. It was also our most successful. Again we assembled a staff of food preparers, cooks, servers and cleanup crew to help Chef Gwen serve up 92 dinners, a new record. The concert given by the Opera-Lytes was attended by nearly 150 persons, and was one of the best by all reports. Twenty-two volunteers worked on the dinner part of the evening, and 30 Opera-Lytes singers, director and accompanist provided the music. Again, with both the dinner and concert drawing record attendance, these are events we are likely to try again next year.

Thank you for your support of these fun and fund-raising events!
