Thank you to all who took angels from our Angel Tree and helped make the holiday a happier one for the youngsters at P.A.C.T. and the clients at Benedict House.

The Cuban refugees, the Roque Soto family, are now living in an apartment on West Delavan Avenue. It is spacious and near Lafayette High School, where Seivi attends classes. She is the star student of her class. Yoel and Aime have not yet received permission to work, but some of the social services should start soon. Hopefully the children will get the required doctor appointments and shots to be able to remain in school.

In January we will receive the Refugee Assistance Offering. This money helps us help the refugees with unexpected expenses or just expenses they have no resources to meet. There will be a Moment for Mission on Jan. 9 and the offering will be received on the 16th. Please be as generous as you can.

We decided to donate $250 from the Local Missions line for the new Plymouth Crossroads residence in Lackawanna for abused and homeless young men, ages 16 to 20. This is a transitional housing project to provide safe shelter and empower young people to develop independent, healthy paths to their future by offering them the tools they need to be self-supportive and avoid long-term dependency on social services. We also donated $125 each to Meals on Wheels and the Buffalo City Mission.

The Second Sunday lunch on Jan. 9 will benefit the Blinds Up! window fund. We still have some windows to replace and money is still needed to finish the project. Please join us for a chili lunch after church and a chance to chat with friends.
