Some Highlights of 2025:
One of the priority issues on which Outreach is focusing this year is food insecurity. ACC had a team of 16 folks that helped pack mobile meal packs for Feed My Starving Children and folks donated over $1,000 to help feed starving children around the world. Additionally, Outreach Board used part of their budget allocation and donated $1000 to FMSC. As a result of ACC's generosity, FMSC will feed 298 children daily for a year in El Salvador!! St. Luke's Mission of Mercy was also the recipient of a $1,000 Outreach donation to support its Thanksgiving food appeal. St. Luke's is an independent, non-profit ministry in Buffalo dedicated to serving the poor and vulnerable. It provides a wide range of essential services to individuals and families in need and relies entirely on private donations and volunteers. They serve over 800 Thanksgiving meals. Seneca Babcock Community Center serves as an excellent resource for those in this area of Buffalo that is often neglected and faces financial and health insecurities The center offers childcare, community education activities, food access, health initiatives, and a plethora of other community resources. The food pantry at the SBCC offers emergency relief to those in need. The Center strives to close the health gap in the community and improve outcomes. ACC members donated school supplies earlier this year, Thanksgiving food last month, and Outreach recently donated $500 to support the food pantry at SBCC. Tiger's Den Food Pantry, housed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church , is a community-based partnership with the Amherst Schools, local area churches and Feed More WNY. Managed and staffed by devoted volunteers, it is solely supported by donations. In addition to non-perishable food products, Tiger's Den offers personal care items, paper products, seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables and fresh bakery products. As the number of Amherst families in need grows, ACC Outreach continued its support of Tiger's Den with a $500 donation. Congregation Shir Shalom Thanksgiving Baskets Project started over 40 years ago and has grown into a collaborative project with North Presbyterian Church, Temple Beth Zion and Williamsville East High School. ACC learned about this project at the Temple's 70th anniversary service held at our church and Outreach decided to contribute $500 to support this amazing volunteer effort. Through so many generous donations, the project distributed 541 complete Thanksgiving meals to the Buffalo community, and provided food to 11 agencies for their constituent families, and additionally delivered over 1600 extra items to five food pantries. Family Promise was overwhelmed by our donation of 80 emergency meal bags to help Family Promise's graduated families who are struggling to put food on their tables.
